Rain = Snow

...and rain down low means snow up high. Since its pouring rain, I like to think of snow. Snow up high means that someday soon you could go play in mountains like this:

THE FINE LINE MOVIE...
26/09/08 13:45
Last night up in Whistler I watched the world premier of the Rocky Mountain Sherpa movie THE FINE LINE. I cannot say enough how damn good this movie is --- as a film in general, and as an educational wheel. People need to see this movie. Combine some of the best skiers and riders in the industry, with avy footage, personal horror stories, and some sideline knowledge of the Mountains with true young and old Mountain Guides. The footage is insane, crazy cable cam work, ski, board, and NOBOARD riding like you have never seen.
Dave, Malcom and crew did an outstanding job. The timelapse photography (think months, not hours) is the most incredible stuff I have seen.
I was going to Blog today about my mood after the mass of cuts I just had returned from a magazine, feeling a bit down, but instead, I am posting photos from these said CUTS to this blog as they were shot on a trip with the sherpas’ for this film.
GO SEE THIS MOVIE - AND BRING ANY SNOW LOVING FRIEND YOU HAVE. It could save your life, or a friends.

NEW in PRinT!!
10/09/08 12:24
Last season the snow was epic. Being that it was way colder than normal, we were able to session some things that never have been before hit low in the valley.
Brendan Keenan spun and grabbed his tail for me to get this shot. Jon Kirby lent me his Elinchrome kit to capture it, as my sunpak’s just wouldnt have cut it. I then promptly went home and ordered myself a kit.
Unfortunately for Brendan, his long time sponsor - Burton - dropped him just after this shot appeared as a double pager in the new SBC.
Also out jumping this day were his brother Jeff, Scott Shaw, and Ryan Tiene. You can see some of the shots in the new Sandbox Video! - All Day, Every Day! Its good. check it out!, More shots will be appearing soon in other mags.. watch for them!

Dreaming of Winter..
09/09/08 15:13
Summer was great, but I have been having alot of thoughts lately about winter... things like this:

Getting up at 4:30 Am, so you can have fresh lines, and great light on places like this:

Walking out to find your car buried deep in the finest BC fluff like this:

Spending time with friends in the backcountry, and witnessing some amazing moments like this:

And just having fun:

Scanning some oldies

I have been going through alot of my older slides the past few weeks trying to get rid of some of the clutter in my condo. I forgot how much I enjoyed seeing slides with my focus being digital so much now. Here are a few I love...

A mirror in Myoko Pine Valley, Japan....

The first “Burton Jump” I built for the un-inc team shoot in New Zealand at Snowpark.

Romain hitting it.....

Dylan Gilmore was a freakin good snowboarder.. he handplanted the wall...

Dwayne Weibe in the U-Ditch at Snowpark..

Neverending midnight sunset at Folgefonna Norway

Scala slide B@W film is/was amazing....

Biggest Jump Alberta has seen...

Mike Sudermann is a good snowboarder
. Do you think many people could hold this much style going over a jump bigger than a house? This past spring I built a massive jump at Norquay Alberta for a RedBull shoot.. - luckily I also was the photog.
It was 110’ to make the top of the transition ( not die ). The crew was small, and alot of crazy stuff went down. Check out twsnow.com for a vid preview...
